Digital Detox Timer: Simple Step-by-Step Guide
This guide explains how to use the Digital Detox Timer tool. The tool tracks your duration since a specific past event.
1. Start Your Detox Streak
- Locate the Setup Section: Find the first main box on the page, labeled “Start Your Detox Journey.”
- Set the Last Contact Date: Use the date and time input field to select the exact date and time of your last contact or screen use. This point acts as your streak starting time.
- Enter a Detox Target (Optional): Type a name for your detox in the optional text field. Examples include “My ex,” “Social media,” or “Toxic friend.”
- Initiate the Timer: Click the green “Start My Detox” button to begin the tracking process. The setup section will hide, and the main timer will appear.
2. Monitor Your Current Streak
- View Main Streak: The large display shows your streak count in days. If the streak is less than one day, it shows the count in hours.
- Check Detailed Breakdown: Look at the colored boxes below the main display. They show the total time elapsed in Days, Hours, Minutes, and Seconds. The timer updates automatically every second.
- Track Milestones: The “Milestones Unlocked” section displays progress toward important goals (e.g., 24 Hours, 1 Week). Unlocked milestones turn green and show a checkmark.
3. Log Urges to Resist Relapse
- Find the Urge Logger: Scroll down to the “Track Your Urges” section.
- Document the Trigger: Type a note describing what caused the urge to break your streak in the text input field (e.g., “Saw a photo of them,” “Bored while waiting”).
- Record the Urge: Click the blue “Log It” button. This action records the time and your note, helping you track frequency instead of acting on the impulse.
- Review Log: Your logged urges appear below, showing what you felt and when it happened. You can remove a log entry by clicking the “β” next to it.
4. Review Your Progress Statistics
- View Stats: The “Your Progress” section summarizes your efforts.
- Check Urge Data: It shows the Total Urges Logged and the average Urges per Day.
- Read the Trend: The summary message provides an analysis of your urge frequency trend (improving, increasing, or stable).
5. Reset the Timer
- Click Reset: To end the current streak and start a new one, click the red “Reset Detox” button at the bottom.
- Confirm Action: The tool will ask for confirmation. Confirming the reset clears all stored progress, including the streak time and urge log.
