Notice Period Calculator

You’ve typed that resignation letter 47 times in your Notes app. You’ve rehearsed the conversation in the shower. You’ve told your friends “I’m done with this place” at least 200 times this year. But when you finally hit send on that email, one question haunts you: when exactly is my last day?

Because Nigerian employers love doing two things, paying salary late and confusing people about notice periods.

Here’s the breakdown:

First, put in the date you submitted (or will submit) your resignation. Not the date you THOUGHT about resigning, the actual date you sent that email or handed over that letter. This is your start date.

Next, select your notice period. Most entry level and mid-level roles in Nigeria ask for one month notice (30 days). Senior roles might want two or three months because apparently your replacement needs time to learn that your job was actually three jobs. If your contract says something different, select “Custom” and type in the exact number of days.

Click “Calculate Last Day” and the calculator does what HR should have done from the start. It shows you when you started, when your last day is, and exactly how many days you have left to deal with everything.

The timeline is beautiful:

You get a visual with your resignation date on one end and your freedom date on the other. In between is just you counting down. The calculator even tells you how many days are left with messages like "one week to go, start wrapping things up" or "today is your last day, good luck with your next chapter."

Real talk: Use this calculator BEFORE you resign. Make sure you can actually survive the notice period financially. Make sure your new job's start date makes sense. Make sure you're not stuck in the awkward phase where you've resigned but still have 60 days left and everyone knows you're leaving so meetings are just... weird.

Knowledge is power. Calculate before you combust.
