Cooperative Investment Thrift
Every month, you see that “Co-op Savings ₦20,000” line on your payslip, and you smile like, “At least I’m saving.”
But if you’ve ever tried to collect your money back and realized the math doesn’t add up… you know the pain.
That’s where this calculator comes in.
It shows you exactly how much your cooperative savings is really doing for you or if it’s just collecting vibes and deductions.
💡 What It Does
This tool breaks down your co-op contributions, calculates your total savings, interest earned, and your actual returns, and tells you if your money could’ve grown faster somewhere else.
Basically, it’s your “was this even worth it?” check.
🤝Cooperative Thrift
Is your cooperative better than the bank?
⚙️ How To Use It
Step 1: Enter Your Monthly Contribution
That’s the amount they remove from your salary every month.
Could be ₦10k, ₦20k, or ₦50k. Just type it in.
Step 2: Add the Duration (Months)
How long have you been saving? 12 months? 24? 36?
The calculator will multiply your contributions and add interest based on your co-op’s rate.
Step 3: Type the Co-op Interest Rate (%)
Most co-ops give something between 8–12% yearly.
If yours gives 5%, you already know there’s trouble.
Step 4: Add Withdrawal Fee (if any)
Some co-ops charge a “processing” fee when you collect your money.
Put that in, so the calculator gives you the real figure that lands in your hand.
Then hit “Calculate My Returns.”
📊 What You’ll See
You’ll get a full picture of your savings journey:
- Total amount you contributed
- Interest earned
- Withdrawal or admin fees
- Final amount you’ll actually receive
And the most important part your effective return rate.
That’s the real number that tells you if your co-op beats a bank, a money market fund, or even T-Bills.
💬 Why It Matters
Because not all co-ops are created equal.
Some are legit wealth builders. Others are just glorified group chats with standing orders.
This tool helps you see if you’re growing wealth or just saving out of habit.
It’s the reality check every Nigerian worker needs before shouting, “My co-op is the best!”
