Contract Duration Calculator

Contract roles in Nigeria are a whole mood. You’re technically employed but also technically temporary. You have benefits but also you don’t. You’re on the team but also you’re not really on the team. It’s complicated.

But one thing shouldn’t be complicated: knowing exactly how long your contract runs.

Here’s what to do:

Pull up your contract (yes, that PDF you haven’t opened since you signed it). Find your start date. This is the day you officially began. Maybe it was the day you received your ID card and felt like a real person. Type that date in “Contract Start Date.”

Now find your end date. Some contracts say “this agreement shall run for 12 months from start date” which means you have to do math. Some just give you the actual date. Either way, figure it out and type it in “Contract End Date.”

Hit “Calculate Duration” and get the full picture.

What the calculator shows: Know When This Thing Ends

Total days (the big number that makes you realize time is flying). Then it breaks it down: months, weeks, and leftover days. So instead of saying "I think I have like four months left?" you can say "I have exactly 127 days left, which is 4 months, 18 weeks, and 7 days."

But the real gems are the bottom numbers: Days Elapsed (how much you've already done) and Days Remaining (how much longer you need to show up). Plus you get a status badge. If you're near the end, it says "Ending Soon" in orange because you need to start sending out applications. If you're good, it's green and says "Active." If it's expired, well, time to have that conversation with HR.

Why this matters:

Contract workers live in uncertainty. You need to know when renewal conversations should start (usually 60-90 days before end). You need to know when to start job hunting if they haven't mentioned renewal. You need to know if you're at risk during the "company is cutting costs" season.

This calculator removes the guesswork. Know your timeline. Own your timeline.
