Ad Density Tester

Nobody wants an email from Google AdSense that starts with “Policy Violation.” That’s the online equivalent of detention, except it costs you real money. This tool helps you check your ad setup against the hidden rules to ensure you are prioritizing content, not just profit. It is your revenue insurance.

AdSense Policy Reminders

  • • Content must be original and add value

  • • Users must be able to distinguish ads from content
  • • Avoid excessive ads that push content below the fold

🚨 Ad Density Tester: Avoid the Policy Banhammer

Step 1: Input Your Page Metrics

The calculator needs four key inputs to check your ad density health. Think of these as the ingredients for your policy risk score:

  1. Page URL: Enter the article link you are testing.
  2. Number of Ad Units: Count every single ad placement on that page.
  3. Page Content (words): The word count of your main article body. Longer articles can handle more ads.
  4. Page Height (pixels): The total height of your page, usually a large number. This shows the length you have to spread out your ads.
  5. Above-the-Fold Ads: Count the ads visible before a user scrolls down. Too many here is a major red flag.

Hit “Test Ad Density” when finished.

Step 2: Read the Status Card (Good or Bad News)

The first thing you see is the Status Card. This gives you an immediate, color-coded verdict:

  • Green (Safe Zone): Your density is chill. Keep up the good work.
  • Yellow (Warning Zone): You are pushing it. You should adjust your ads soon before a manual review catches the issue.
  • Red (Danger Zone): Stop everything and fix it. You are at high risk of a policy violation. This means you need to reduce ad units immediately.

This instant feedback is crucial because getting flagged means revenue stops.

Step 3: Analyze the Breakdown and Action Plan

Below the status, the Density Metrics section breaks down the scores into specific, actionable ratios.

  • Ads Per 100 Words: This measures how much content sits between your ads. Aim for below 0.5 ads per 100 words. If you are higher, you need to write more content or remove ads.
  • Ads Per 1000 Pixels: This checks if your ads are spaced out down the page length.
  • Above-the-Fold Ratio: This is the most important check for first impressions. You want this ratio to be low, ideally below 40% of your total ads. The first screen must be mostly content.

The Recommendations box then gives you specific, step-by-step advice based on your scores: Move ads below the fold, Reduce ad units, or Add more content. Follow these instructions exactly: they are your map out of the policy danger zone.
